URCaps that make a UR robot easier to run.

A URCap is an app that lives on the Universal Robots teach pendant. We build them: BP Draw for trade shows and events, and custom URCaps that give your operators one simple screen instead of a program tree.

Pick a picture. Press GO. The robot draws it.

A booth attraction that runs itself. Load your own logo and hand every visitor a card the robot drew for them.

Home

The arm lifts the pen between strokes, parks at Home, and waits for the next card.

What the demo shows: a drawing file is loaded from a USB stick and appears as a tile on the pendant. A visitor taps a picture and presses GO. The robot arm traces the outline on an index card with a marker, returns to its home position, and the helper slides in a fresh card.

BP Draw package

What you get

BP Draw started as a booth for kids at a fair. A child picks a picture, presses GO, and walks away with a card a robot drew. It worked well enough that we turned it into a package any UR owner can run.

It fits a trade show booth, an open house, a school STEM day, or a lobby. Anywhere you want people to stop and watch your robot.

  • The BP Draw URCapThe pendant app, licensed for one robot.
  • Spring-loaded marker holderHolds a standard Sharpie and gives a little, so the tip is not crushed.
  • Tool flange adapterMachined in our shop to bolt the holder to the UR wrist.

Your own artwork

Copy an SVG outline to a USB stick and it becomes a new tile. Logos, mascots, a product outline.

Full-screen kiosk mode

The picture screen covers the whole pendant, so visitors cannot wander into the robot's program.

Teach the card in three touches

Touch the pen to three points on the card and the drawing lines up, even if the table is not square to the robot.

Test in the air first

Test mode runs the whole drawing above the card so you can check the path before any ink goes down.

Smooth curves, sharp corners

The robot blends through curves at a steady speed and stops fully at sharp corners, so the lines look drawn, not stitched.

Custom URCaps

One screen your operators can run

The same work that went into BP Draw goes into URCaps for production cells.

Operator screens

A full-screen page with only the choices an operator needs: pick the part, press start, see the status. No program tree, no accidental edits.

Program nodes

Your process as a drop-in block in PolyScope, with the settings on one page. Offsets, counts, part selection, recovery moves.

PLC to UR link

Robot status, counts and faults mapped to PLC tags, and start and recipe signals mapped back, set up once on the pendant.

Safe recovery

A guided "get me home" button that walks the arm back along a taught path after a stop, with the operator holding the move the whole way.

Licensing built in

If you sell machines with a UR on them, we can license your URCap per robot so your work stays yours.

Tested before it ships

We build and run every URCap on our own e-Series robot before it goes anywhere near your floor.

PLC to UR link

The robot and the PLC, on speaking terms

Most cells have a PLC running the show and a cobot doing the work, with a handful of wires between them. When the robot stops, the PLC only knows that it stopped.

A link URCap gives the PLC the whole story: which program is running, how many cycles, and what the safety status is. With PLC Monitor on the same cell, "why did the cobot stop?" gets a real answer.

How a URCap project goes

From idea to pendant

Tell us the job

What the robot does today, who runs it, and where they get stuck.

See the screen first

We send a picture of the operator screen before we build anything behind it.

Build and test

We write it and run it on our own UR until it behaves.

Install and train

USB install, a walkthrough with your team, and support after.

FAQ

Common questions

Which robots do your URCaps run on?

Universal Robots e-Series arms running PolyScope 5. BP Draw needs PolyScope 5.11 or newer. If your robot is on older software, we can update it as part of the job.

How does a URCap get installed?

From a USB stick on the teach pendant, in a couple of minutes. We can do it on site or walk your team through it.

Can BP Draw draw our own logo?

Yes. Save it as an SVG outline, copy it to a USB stick, and it shows up as a new tile on the screen. Text has to be converted to outlines first, and we can do that for you.

Is BP Draw safe around kids?

It is built for a staffed booth. A helper presses Play once, swaps the cards, and stays with the robot. Kids only ever touch a picture and the GO button. The robot runs at reduced speed with its safety limits set low, and the e-stop is always in reach of the helper.

How is BP Draw licensed?

One license per robot. It comes as a small file you load with the URCap.

Can you build a URCap for our process?

Yes. If your operators need a simpler screen, or your PLC needs to talk to the robot without custom script on every job, that is what we build. Call us with what the robot does today and what you wish it did.
